That’s a Wrap:  MIPI Alliance Concludes Productive North America Member Meeting

MIPI Alliance Member Meeting #50 in Montreal has concluded with a packed agenda. More than 150 representatives from 61 MIPI member companies convened for productive working group sessions, informative presentations and networking opportunities to advance specification development and engage in important planning for the Alliance.


Opening Plenary

The week kicked off with an Opening Plenary on Tuesday, 26 March. Joel Huloux, chairman of MIPI Alliance, welcomed new members, recognized local Canadian companies for their contributions, and provided a look at the year ahead, including sharing specification development updates and promoting the two upcoming MIPI DevCon events.

MIPI Opening Plenary Montreal 2019Also during the Opening Plenary, Kenneth Ma, Technical Steering Group chair, and Kevin Yee, Marketing Steering Group chair, shared an update on how their groups are aligning activities to the organization's strategic priorities. The joint presentation also included a report on the upcoming phase 2 efforts related to MIPI and 5G.

Following Kenneth and Kevin's presentation, attendees also received an overview of plans for MIPI DevCon Stuttgart. Roy Chestnut, vice chair of the DevCon Steering Committee, encouraged member companies to participate by submitting a presentation proposal or signing up to present a demo at the event.IMG-6879

Lior Amarilio, chair of the Audio Working Group, closed out the Opening Plenary with an update on progress in the Audio group, including work on SoundWire and the group’s next audio specification.


Awards Ceremony

A major highlight of the week was the MIPI Alliance Annual Membership Awards Ceremony luncheon on 27 March.  The ceremony recognized member contributions in four categories: Lifetime Achievement, Corporate, Working Group Leadership and Distinguished Service. This year’s MIPI awards honored nine recipients for exemplary efforts and dedication in helping advance and promote MIPI Alliance:

Social Event

Meeting participants took a midweek break for the evening social event at Cirque Eloize, a contemporary circus company founded in Montreal in 1993. MIPI members enjoyed dinner and drinks during performance at the well-received event, with time to relax and network with their colleagues.

The next MIPI Alliance member meeting will be held 17-21 June in Milan, Italy, followed by MIPI DevCon Stuttgart in Germany on 25 June.
